Generation 5 heroes

Vivian, Long Fei, and Thrud — the Gen 5 roster with the highest-priority shard target in the game and what to prepare for Gen 6.

Generation 5 arrives around server Day 283 with Vivian (Archer), Long Fei (Infantry), and Thrud (Cavalry). Vivian is the most impactful single hero release in the game — her passive debuff stacks multiplicatively with every other damage source in your rally, making her the highest-priority Mythic shard target regardless of track. Long Fei is accessible to F2P via Hero Roulette. Thrud is Spender-leaning and F2P players should skip her entirely.

TL;DR

  • Vivian is your number one priority — every Mythic shard saved from Gen 4 onward goes here; push to 4–5★ even if it takes months
  • Long Fei is your Infantry upgrade; accessible via Hero Roulette, worth building after Vivian is established
  • Skip Thrud entirely — too costly to obtain F2P and the resources are better spent on Vivian
  • If you hoarded shards since Gen 4 per the Gen 4 guide advice, you can land Vivian at 3–4★ at launch — a significant power jump

Investment priority

  1. Vivian — all Mythic shards here. No exceptions.
  2. Long Fei — Infantry upgrade once Vivian is at 3★+.
  3. Thrud — skip.

Maintain minimum 5,000 Infantry in absolute troop count.

TL;DR

  • Vivian to 4–5★ is the highest single ROI spend in the game — even moderate spenders should prioritize this above other Gen 5 investments
  • Thrud replaces Petra/Margot as Cavalry rally lead for serious Spenders; her stat package (+25% all damage dealt, –25% damage taken) is exceptional
  • Long Fei is worth 3★+ for Infantry rally leaders; his invincibility buffs are strong in sustained Castle Battle and KvK combat
  • This generation represents the biggest power gap between F2P and Spenders — Thrud is the dividing line
  • Begin preparing for Gen 6 simultaneously; Yang (Gen 6 Archer) has the best rally buff of any Archer if you go in with shards ready

Investment priority

  1. Vivian — highest priority. Push to 4★ minimum, 5★ if resources allow.
  2. Thrud — Cavalry slot for Spenders; strong sustained combat kit.
  3. Long Fei — Infantry slot; accessible and worthwhile at 3★+.

Maintain minimum 5,000 Infantry in absolute troop count.

Hero roster

Vivian

Class: Archer | Rarity: Mythic | Accessibility: Hero Recruitment banner, Intel Missions

The most impactful single hero in the game at time of Gen 5 release. Her signature passive — Crouching Tiger — applies a permanent +25% enemy damage taken debuff. This is not additive with your other damage stats — it’s a multiplier on top of them. Every other damage source in your rally (research, gear, other hero skills) gets amplified by 25% just from Vivian being present. At high star levels, this compound effect is enormous.

Even for players who can’t push her to max stars immediately, Vivian at 3–4★ outperforms a fully maxed Gen 4 Archer in most combat scenarios.

Key skills:

Long Fei

Class: Infantry | Rarity: Mythic | Accessibility: Hero Roulette (F2P achievable)

The F2P-accessible Gen 5 Infantry hero. His kit centers on invincibility windows and strong squad enablers — making him durable in sustained fights like Castle Battles and extended KvK waves. He’s a clear upgrade over Eric (Gen 3) and Alcar (Gen 4) for players who build him to 3★+.

Key skills:

Thrud

Class: Cavalry | Rarity: Mythic | Accessibility: Spender-leaning (limited Roulette availability)

The most powerful Cavalry hero in the game at Gen 5. Her Ancestral Guidance skill grants +25% all squads’ damage dealt and –25% damage taken simultaneously — a rare double modifier that makes rally leaders significantly more durable and more dangerous. She replaces Margot and Petra as the Cavalry lead for Spenders.

F2P recommendation: skip. The gem cost to obtain Thrud at a competitive star level via Roulette is prohibitive, and those resources are better spent pushing Vivian to a higher star level.

Key skills:

Looking ahead: Generation 6

Gen 6 introduces Yang (Archer), Triton (Infantry), and Sophia (support/utility). Yang is the standout F2P target — he’s the only Gen 6 hero with a direct offensive rally buff in his Expedition skills, and accessible via Hero Roulette. For F2P players who held shards since Gen 4, Gen 6 is the “all-in” moment.
