Generation 2 heroes
Hilde, Zoe, and Marlin — the Gen 2 roster with F2P and Spender investment priorities and what to prepare for Gen 3.
Generation 2 launches around server Day 40 with three heroes: Hilde (Cavalry), Zoe (Infantry), and Marlin (Archer). This is a small generation by count but enormous by impact — Hilde’s Elixir of Strength is widely considered the strongest single skill in the game, and Marlin remains a top joiner hero well into Gen 4. Prepare early; these heroes reward players who arrive at Gen 2 with shards already saved.
TL;DR
- Hilde is the priority — push her as high as you can with saved shards; even 2–3★ is a significant combat jump
- Marlin is your best Archer joiner upgrade over Chenko — accessible via Hero Recruitment when Gen 4 launches
- Zoe is solid but lower priority than Hilde and Marlin for F2P; she’s strong defensively but her skill has RNG variance
- Start banking shards and Intel Mission resources two weeks before Gen 2 drops (~Day 25)
- After investing in Hilde and Marlin, keep Chenko as a backup joiner — Gen 2 doesn’t replace her yet
Investment priority
- Hilde — every shard you have saved goes here first. Even partial investment pays off.
- Marlin — second priority once Hilde is at a comfortable star level. Great long-term rally joiner.
- Zoe — lower priority for F2P. Her healing mechanic is useful but less impactful than Hilde’s raw damage output.
TL;DR
- Hilde to 4–5★ is the single best Gen 2 spend — Elixir of Strength at high star levels is a multiplier on every rally you lead or join
- Marlin is worth pushing alongside Hilde; his AoE and lethality debuff make him a durable long-term joiner
- Gen 2 heroes stay competitive through Gen 4 — this investment has legs
- Don’t neglect Zoe — at high star levels her healing trigger makes her a resilient frontline unit in sustained fights
Investment priority
- Hilde — highest single-hero ROI in Gen 2. Push to 4★ minimum.
- Marlin — durable long-term investment; remains a top joiner into Gen 4.
- Zoe — strong at 3★+; worthwhile after Hilde and Marlin are established.
Hero roster
Hilde
Class: Cavalry | Rarity: Mythic | Accessibility: Hero Recruitment banner, Intel Missions (Gen 3+)
Arguably the strongest single-hero investment in the entire game relative to when she arrives. Her key skill — Elixir of Strength — gives a 25% chance for squads to deal 200% damage. At scale, that triggers frequently and produces outsized damage spikes in both PvP and PvE. Her two other skills add substantial Attack and Defense buffs and a 40% chance to reduce incoming damage by 50%.
Hilde remains competitive 3–4 generations after her release. Players who invest in her early and deeply get sustained returns throughout the mid-game.
Key skills:
- Elixir of Strength — 25% chance, 200% squad damage
- Noble Path — +15% Attack, +10% Defense
- Trial by Fire — 40% chance to reduce damage taken by 50%
Zoe
Class: Infantry | Rarity: Mythic | Accessibility: Hero Recruitment banner, Intel Missions (Gen 3+)
Healing-focused Infantry hero. Her signature skill Agony Rush triggers when HP drops below 50%, healing for 40% of max HP and granting +24% Attack afterward. She becomes more effective in longer fights where the heal trigger can activate multiple times. Less impactful than Hilde in short burst exchanges but strong in sustained combat like Castle Battles.
Key skills:
- Agony Rush — triggers at below 50% HP: heal 40% max HP, gain +24% Attack
- Survivability bonuses for Infantry squads
Marlin
Class: Archer | Rarity: Mythic | Accessibility: Hero Recruitment banner, Intel Missions (Gen 3+)
Top long-term Archer joiner. His AoE pulse attack deals 280% damage with a 1.5-second immobilize, and he carries a 20% chance to reduce enemy Lethality — a debuff that compounds well with other rally heroes. Marlin stays competitive as a joiner into Gen 4, making him one of the highest long-term value heroes in Gen 2.
Key skills:
- AoE pulse attack — 280% damage, 1.5s immobilize
- 20% chance to reduce enemy Lethality
- Survivability scaling
Looking ahead: Generation 3
Gen 3 arrives around server Day 105 with Petra (Cavalry), Eric (Infantry), and Jaeger (Archer). Petra is the standout — she’s the first hero with a combat-applicable Widget and is the non-negotiable rally cavalry lead once she’s accessible.
Start preparing now:
- The recommended Gen 3 trio for rally leaders is Amadeus + Marlin + Petra — if you’re running this comp, confirm Marlin is at a strong star level before Gen 3 drops
- Petra is accessible to F2P via Hero Roulette — start saving gems now
- Begin conserving general Mythic shards; Petra rewards deep investment
