Generation 1 heroes
The four Gen 1 Mythic heroes — Jabel, Amadeus, Helga, and Saul — with F2P and Spender investment guidance.
Generation 1 Mythic heroes are available from Day 1. Jabel is your free cavalry anchor, Amadeus is the top long-tail Infantry hero for Spenders, Helga covers garrison defense, and Saul provides construction speed. Epic and Rare heroes from Gen 1 are covered in the Epic and Rare heroes guide.
TL;DR
- Jabel is your best free Gen 1 hero — grab him on Day 2, build him as your cavalry anchor
- Helga belongs in your city defense slot only — zero offensive rally value
- Skip deep investment in Amadeus — he’s paywalled behind VIP 7 for most F2P players
- Don’t spend Mythic shards on Gen 1 — save them for Petra (Gen 3) at minimum
Investment priority
- Jabel — free, strong early damage + defensive utility. Default cavalry hero until Hilde (Gen 2).
- Helga — assign to garrison defense. No shards needed; just slot her in.
- Saul — if accessible via Roulette, construction speed pays off long-term.
TL;DR
- Amadeus is the highest-priority Gen 1 spend — stays relevant as Infantry joiner through Gen 3+
- Jabel is still worth building; he’s free and strong
- Saul ($1 starter pack) provides construction speed — worth it purely for build-time reduction early on
- Don’t over-invest in Gen 1 at the expense of Gen 2 preparation — start saving resources around Day 25
Investment priority
- Amadeus — long-tail Infantry hero. Remains strong rally joiner and leader into Gen 3. Push to 3–4★ early.
- Jabel — free, strong, accessible. Build alongside Amadeus.
- Saul — construction speed is a permanent quality-of-life improvement; worth the $1 if available.
Hero roster
Jabel
Class: Cavalry | Rarity: Mythic | Accessibility: Free (Day 2 login reward)
Strong AoE damage dealer with defensive utility. Your first Mythic-rarity hero. Despite being Gen 1, Jabel’s kit holds up well into mid-game — his damage and survivability make him a solid cavalry anchor before Hilde arrives.
Key skills: AoE burst damage, damage reduction for friendly squads.
Amadeus
Class: Infantry | Rarity: Mythic | Accessibility: Spender (requires VIP 7 or specific packs)
The most durable Gen 1 hero in terms of long-term rally value. As a rally leader, his Infantry bonuses compound well. As a joiner, his first expedition skill remains competitive well past Gen 1 server age. F2P players who can’t access him shouldn’t stress — Chenko covers the joiner role adequately.
Key skills: Infantry attack and defense bonuses; strong first expedition skill for rally joining.
Helga
Class: Infantry | Rarity: Mythic | Accessibility: F2P
Garrison and defense specialist. Strong when holding an alliance structure or defending your city. Zero offensive rally value — keep her in your city defense slot, not in attack marches.
Saul
Class: Infantry | Rarity: Mythic | Accessibility: $1 starter pack or Hero Roulette
Construction speed bonus (+15% speed, –15% costs). The construction speed compounds over months of building. If you can access him early, he’s one of the highest ROI heroes in the game purely for infrastructure.
Looking ahead: Generation 2
Gen 2 arrives around server Day 40 and introduces three heroes: Hilde (Cavalry), Zoe (Infantry), and Marlin (Archer). All three are among the strongest long-tail heroes in the game — Hilde and Marlin in particular remain competitive 3–4 generations after their release.
Start preparing now:
- Begin stockpiling general hero shards and gems around Day 25
- Don’t spend Mythic shards on Gen 1 heroes — Hilde is Mythic and worth saving for
- Identify which Intel Mission heroes you’re close to completing so you can free up resource slots before Gen 2 drops
